We know that the chore of cleaning the hen house is never fun, so we’ve designed our Chicken Coops so that it can be done in a matter of minutes. The recycled plastic we use means that it can be washed with a simple jet of water or a high-pressure washer without the risk of damaging the hen house, unlike a traditional wooden coop which can be damaged when cleaned with water.

The inside of our Chicken Coop is very accessible, unlike most hen houses on the market. Thanks to their wide rear door, detachable nesting boxes and perches and a roof that can be removed in seconds, you can easily access any part of it for effortless cleaning.

  • Are Nestera chicken coops fox-proof?

    We really think so! We've not received a single report of a fox getting into one of our coops. Our ‘chew-resistant’ coops are made from 100% recycled plastic which is really tough, and the ventilation holes are far too small for a fox. The rear door is lockable and the front door is reinforced with a smooth vertical-sliding metal door, which makes it difficult for animals to open.

  • Are Nestera chicken coops red mite-proof?

    Unfortunately, nothing is 100% red mite-proof. However, Nestera chicken coops are intelligently designed to be extremely red mite-resistant, as well as easy to clean! Red mites are tiny, and live in cracks and joints in poultry housing. Unlike wooden chicken coops, ours are made from solid 100% recycled plastic and created to ensure there are very few suitable places for red mite to hide. We recommend sprinkling Diatom powder around the coop when refreshing the bedding, so any mites present are quickly dealt with before they can multiply.

  • Do Nestera chicken coops get cold in winter and/or hot in the summer?

    The plastic we use is 100% recycled which we have found to be an excellent material for chicken coops. In the winter months, the required ventilation means the temperature inside the coop will be similar to the ambient air temperature outside. However, chickens are quite tolerant of the cold as their feathers provide good insulation. During the warmer summer months, our solid, UV-resistant roofs reflects the sun's heat really well, keeping your chickens cool and comfortable.

  • How many feathery residents can live in a Nestera wagon?

    The Wagon is suitable for up to 6 large birds or 15 bantams.

  • Can I install an automatic door opener on a Nestera coop?

    Absolutely! You don't need get up when your chickens do! We offer the Nestera Automatic Door Opener as an optional extra with all our coops. Discreet pre-drilled holes are included on each coop for easy installation.

  • How long does it take to assemble a Nestera wagon?

    Most people manage to successfully assemble their Nestera Wagon in well under 2 hours. You certainly don’t need to be a DIY expert! We provide clear and easy-to-follow instructions with every chicken coop.

Aussehen Top, für den Winter so nicht geeignet

Optisch sehr schön. Der Aufbau hat zu zweit knapp 4 Stunden gedauert. Die Anleitung ist teilweise falsch beschrieben, so dass wir einiges wieder umbauen mussten. Die Verbindungen mit den Klammern erfordert einiges an Kraft. Auch ist der Wagon teilweise unsauber gearbeitet. Wer sich ( bis auf die Belüftung) einen dichten Stall wünscht, wird enttäuscht und muss dies selber anpassen. Isolierung…. Nunja. Sieht super aus, allerdings hätte ich für das viele Geld mehr Qualität erwartet.

Stabiler und praktischer Hühnerstall

Der Wagon sieht toll aus und lässt sich einigermaßen gut auf festem Untergrund fahren. Allerdings in der Wiese eher schwer. Richtige aufblasbare Gummireifen sollten bei dem Preis schon drin sein. Unsere Hühner (wir haben 6 mittelgroße) gehen gerne rein - auch das mit dem Legenest funktioniert einwandfrei. Der Aufbau hat zu zweit schon mehr als 2 Std. gedauert - eher 4 Std. - und die Beschreibung ist verbesserungswürdig. Vor allem das gebogene Dach ging sehr schwer drauf. Die Scharniere der Tür mussten auch nochmal nachgestellt werden nachdem ersten verschieben des Wagons. Jetzt passt es einigermaßen. Die Kotschalen sind praktisch könnten aber ca. 2 cm breiter sein, weil immer ein Spalt übrig bleibt der extra gekehrt werden muss. Ist aber nicht wirklich schlimm.

Wir sind uns bewusst, dass man mit dem Wagon manchmal etwas Kraft braucht, um das Dach richtig zu montieren, weshalb wir immer empfehlen, es mit 2 Personen zu machen :) Die Kotschalen sind in der Tat etwas kleiner als die Grundfläche des Hühnerstalls, aber das ist absichtlich so konzipiert. Auf diese Weise verhindern wir, dass Kondenswasser in die Einstreu gelangt und die Hühner nass werden :) Wenn Sie weitere Fragen haben, können Sie sich gerne wieder an uns wenden.   • What's the most important feature that made you choose a Nestera coop Red Mite Resistance

This is our second wagon. We like them very much, but there are a few things that really need to be improved: 1. Very poor finish of the holes in the axles (pos 37): excentric, not deburred 2. Poor finish of the wheel outer diameter edges (loose plastic!) 3. Unnecessary use of 2 screw diameters 4. Unclear manual (bolt diameters, roof, weather seal, no part numbers for the contents of the fixing packs ...). Why no link to a YouTube video? 5. Wi-Fi enabled door opener compatible with Home Assistant pls!!!!!! 6. Unhide the 10% discount when subscribing on your newspaper (we missed it -> frustrating!)

Also ich bin voll zufrieden mit dem Wagon. Ein Punkt der Verbesserungsfähig wäre ist der Boden. Dieser ist, nicht wie bei den kleineren Modellen barrierefrei . Das heißt es kann nicht einfach raus gekehrt werden da immer ein Rand stehen bleibt. Das wäre anders besser finde ich. Desweiteren verzieht sich der Wagon sehr bei unebener Fläche an der Tür. Ich glaube ich würde das nächste Mal lieber den Lodge nehmen

Erfahrungen zum Hühnerstall

Wir haben den Hühnerstall aufgebaut. Der Aufbau hat einen ganzen Nachmittag gedauert. Nach einer Woche hat sich gezeigt, dass die Scharniere für die große Tür vorn zu schwach sind. Geöffnet hängt die Tür runter, beim schließen muss ich die Tür etwas ausheben, was sehr schwer ist. Die Kotschalen könnten etwas breiter sein, es fällt viel in den vorhandenen Zwischenraum. Ansonsten fühlen sich die Hühner wohl.
